Every single one of my mother’s side of the family live abroad. Because of that, my mother would always send updates of her progress in waves of photos and polaroids which her family kept. I was able to peruse through them this past week and was amazed by this life about my mom I never knew: old b&w photos from her childhood, her day as a beauty queen, & shots from her school life in Manila. My favorite shot is the one which lays in the header, which is my mother’s last day in the Philippines before she set off to America to start her ‘new’ life beginning in Alabama.
